Diviners of Aarcc, is a melanated timeless short film inspired by a conversation with interlocutors Angel Batdawid and Kameryn Carter about Sun Ra’s concept of Alter Destiny and the mission of the Aarcc Coalition. This imaginative film follows the Diviners of Aarcc, a sacred collective of women, who use ritual and dance to summon Solari, a celestial being from the galaxy Canis Majoris to save humanity. Merging folklore, dance, and poetry the film interrogates themes of ecological crises, capitalism’s impact on marginalized communities, and the possibilities of collective imagination to ignite change.
